About us

The story behind Baku Cafe.

Baku Cafe was founded by Slavik Gurshumov, a restaurateur with more than two decades of New York experience, as a tribute to his Azerbaijani heritage.

Meet owner Slavik Gurshumov

He built his career in New York's restaurant industry, managing upscale restaurants and leading kitchen teams for more than two decades. He later moved to Miami and became an active part of the city's restaurant scene.

Inspired by his Azerbaijani heritage, he founded Baku Cafe in Sunny Isles Beach to showcase traditional grilling, regional cuisine and genuine hospitality. His philosophy is simple: a restaurant should offer a memorable experience, not just a meal.

Today the restaurant serves Mediterranean grill favorites and breakfast from 9am, dinner and cocktails until midnight, and hosts private events for up to 90 guests in its chandelier-lit dining room on Collins Avenue.

“We make food that makes people happy.”
